They provide assistance to families during the initial process of referral, evaluation, and if eligible, during the development and implementation of the Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP). Little Meadows Now Provides Home Based Early Intervention Applied Behavior Analysis Services

Our program employs the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to make significant changes in the lives of children and their families who have been given a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Here at Little Meadows we create an ABA program for each child that is child specific, based on the individual skills, needs and learning styles of each child. We develop programs that meet and support the needs of the child’s family. We view the involvement of the family as the critical component of a child’s progress, and will do all that we can to support family in bringing their child to the very best outcome!

To do so we incorporate many formats of Applied Behavior Analysis which include: discrete trial instruction, natural environment teaching, verbal behavior, Pivotal Response Training and the Early Start Denver Model. We also include elements of other methodologies into our treatment delivery: floortime, picture exchange communication system (PECS), video imitation, collaborative speech and language therapy, collaborative OT, collaborative PT and family training.

Little Meadows is proud to announce our new ABA Program under the direction of our ABA Coordinator, Debbie Cohen Nicolo, MSed, BCBA. Please feel free to call Debbie at (718) 454 6460 or email her at [email protected]. to learn more about our program.

The Early Intervention Program (EIP) and early intervention services available through the early intervention program are for children less than three years of age who have or are suspected of having a developmental delay and/or disability. The early intervention program is a public program funded by New York State and county governments. Potentially eligible children must be referred to the county program to receive EIP services: The referrals can be made by calling 311 in New York City and/or in Queens County by calling 718-480-2249 or 718-480-2248.

All services provided under the early intervention program are provided at no out-of-pocket cost to parents, but that health insurance may be accessed for reimbursement for early intervention services provided to eligible children and their families.

Eligibility for the early intervention program can be only determined by State-approved evaluator under contract with the municipality. If a child is found eligible for the early intervention program, all needed early intervention services are identified in collaboration with the parent and must be authorized by the municipality. The municipality will arrange for service providers, considering the individual needs of the child and the family, to deliver services authorized by the municipality. When early intervention services are delivered in a child care setting or community location that requires a fee, the parent is responsible for paying any associated costs with such access to child care or community locations.
